NKT Mobility and Assessment

NKT Mobility and Assessment is a course for all NKT practitioners looking to incorporate corrective exercises and a thorough movement screen into their clinical practices. This program delves into the intricacies of motor control, joint alignment and human variability enabling students to combine their NKT findings with effective movement solutions.

Participants will learn a diverse range of practices aimed at identifying movement restrictions, building strength and creating new neural pathways.  The Joint Assessment Technique will be introduced, showing students a new way to create functional movement and effective motor control.

There will be practical demonstrations and case studies as in all NKT classes. Students will feel more confident with their NKT skill set and be able to provide more thorough treatments to their patients/clients at the conclusion of this class.

Day 1: Assessment

9:00am – 11:00am – Lecture
What is NKT Mobility and Assessment? Why is a proper movement assessment important for clinical results? How do we increase motor unit recruitment and correct faulty motor patterns? What is skill acquisition and what are the 3 stages of motor learning? Introduction to Joint Assessment Technique. Movement variability vs. joint alignment. Is one better than the other? Isometrics and repetitions for joint health and motor control creation

11:00am – 1:00pm
Assessment of hip ranges of motion and dysfunction. NKT application and motor control corrections of all hip muscles based on individual findings.

1:00pm – 2:00pm
Lunch

2:00pm – 4:00pm
Assessment and treatment of the of the spine. Introduction to the thoracic extension protocol. Mobility exercises to compliment all NKT findings.

4:00pm – 5:30pm
Assessment of the knee and ankle. Understanding their impact on motor control function. Corrective exercises based on NKT findings.

Day 2: Mobility

9:00am – 10:00am
